Mexico City Mexican Food – Authentic Mexican Eats & Market in Calgary

Que delicioso! Very authentic little place, I had the tacos and the (amazingly delicious) hibiscus water (Agua de Jamaica). They also had tamales available and treats as well! Will come back with more friends :)

Authentic hidden gem! Food: decent variety but compact menu. They focus on what they do best. Tried a few items, starting with the Lengua (beef tongue) taco - flavourful and tender, could be a bit more moist/juicer but I’d be nitpicking. Burrito was flavourful, generously portioned, and hefty. Horchata was solid and satisfying. Chicken and mole tamales were very authentic and tasty, although my personal preference would have been more mole sauce. Churros were excellent, perfectly crispy and flavoured. Service: friendly and prompt, but know that it’s not fast food - it’s made with care and attention. Atmosphere: only a couple of sit down tables, combined with a store front with a small shop. Inviting, authentic, quaint. Value: excellent price point for the quality and quantity. Especially the burrito. Overall, I plan to be back and excited to try other items.

My work moved into the area and we now go here most weeks for lunch. Favorite is the cochinita burrito. Decent prices and great food. Has a market with authentic products from Mexico.

I always drive by the neighborhood and I finally decided to have lunch as i had a couple of minutes. I was greeted by two lovely ladies and I decided to get 3 tacos one chochinitas and two al pastor. It was worth the wait, they were delicious, well proportioned with a side of guacamole and green salsa. They were very tasty and authentic as far as flavors and presentation. I had to compliment the ladies for making such a delicious and beautiful meal. The modest and simple layout of the store adds a touch of authenticity and comfort. They also have grocery items, salsa, tortillas and confectioneries. They also offer clothing and hats. If you want to experience a cozy and authentic experience this is the place to try. Highly recommended.

By far, the best beef brisket tacos I've tried. Very friendly and attentive service. It's a small place, but you get a complete cantina vibe. I also enjoyed the smokey hot sauce.

Authentic Mexican food, beautiful Christian art, awesome vibe. Enjoyed our meal. They were able to offer a vegetarian meal, for my self, so grateful.

Very casual....tried a birria shredded beef taco, chicken tamale and a churro. Nice flavours and friendly service.

What a fantastic find in Calgary! It’s just tucked off of Edmonton Trail and McKnight Blvd North. The two lovely ladies at the counter are also the chefs that create VERY authentic Mexican food. I loved the chicken Tamales which were served with a green sauce & sour cream sauce. Tamales are a lot of work to make and difficult to find in Canada. I will be back to try their other tamale flavors! This is now my new favorite Mexican restaurant!
